Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Remote
1w1 week agoBrave Health
US · Full-time · $125,000 – $135,000
About this role
At Brave Health, we transform lives by expanding access to compassionate mental health care through technology, especially for Medicaid patients where two-thirds of providers do not accept coverage. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) assess patients' mental and physical health based on symptoms, diagnose psychiatric disorders, and collaborate on treatment plans. They conduct psychotherapy, prescribe medications, and educate on conditions and options while maintaining HIPAA-compliant documentation.
Day-to-day involves 75% treatment planning: developing plans with interdisciplinary teams, conducting individual psychotherapy for chronic or acute disorders, and prescribing psychotropic medications including controlled substances. PMHNPs monitor medication usage, side effects, and treatment effectiveness, while educating patients and families. They handle difficult patients, deescalating verbally as needed.
In a community health-centered environment, PMHNPs spend 15% on compliance and documentation, recording histories, assessments, diagnoses, and outcomes in the EHR. They adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national standards, and internal policies, consulting Clinical or Medical Directors for guidance. Patient assessment and diagnosis make up 10%, including ordering tests like EKGs and labs.
