Medical/Pediatric Nurses collect pertinent data relative to patient health or situation during assessment. They analyze data to determine nursing diagnoses, problems, or issues. Expected outcomes are identified for individualized plans.

Nurses develop and implement plans of care with interventions to attain measurable outcomes. Progress toward patient goals is evaluated regularly. Care delivery remains nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory, sensitive, and culturally competent.

Effective communication occurs with clients, families, and health care professionals. Collaboration involves clients, families, and providers in care provision. Leadership skills enhance outcomes and foster healthy work environments.

Nurses acquire current knowledge, pursue expertise advancement, and use research findings in practice. They contribute to quality nursing practice that is safe, effective, efficient, equitable, timely, and patient-centered. Professional practice evaluation aligns with standards and policies.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 3 years of employment (except grandfathered staff)
  • Registered Nurse license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing
  • Graduate of RN Program
  • Current and valid driver’s license in some areas
  • Ability to analyze assessment data for nursing diagnoses
  • Knowledge to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Skills in evaluating progress toward patient outcomes

Responsibilities
