About this role
The Staff Nurse in the Dermatology Clinic performs a variety of medical procedures including wound dressing, suture removal, blood extraction with centrifugation for Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), and ultraviolet therapy. Assists in electrocautery support, mole mapping, iontophoresis treatment, and advanced laser procedures such as fractional laser, broadband light, Erbium YAG, and vascular laser. Supports skin excisions, biopsies, incision and drainage, cryotherapy, patch tests, mesotherapy, and HydraFacial treatments.
Provides age-specific patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process, performing patient assessments with problem-focused and age-specific techniques. Conducts continual critical care assessments of patient and family's physical and psychological needs. Coordinates clinical pathways, prioritizes care based on individual needs, and revises plans as necessary while recognizing subtle cues to anticipate problems.
Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver patient care and involves patients, significant others, and health care providers in the plan of care. Documents all relevant data in the medical record per hospital standards and ensures availability of supplies and equipment. Performs clerical duties, safe handling of Narcotic/Controlled Drugs, and maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
Participates in staff meetings, unit committees, Continuous Quality Improvement activities, and ongoing educational activities. Completes mandatory education for Joint Commission International Accreditation, unit competencies like pain management, and yearly critical care nursing competencies. Assumes additional duties as required to support unit goals and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Maintains clinical and professional competency based on latest research and standards
- Completes yearly critical care nursing competencies (basic)
- Ensures completion of unit competencies including pain management
- Assumes responsibility for Joint Commission International Accreditation mandatory education
- Performs safe handling and administration of Narcotic/Controlled Drugs per policies
