About this role
This part-time position offers 24 hours per week, with two days as Nurse Supervisor and one day as Prenatal Staff Nurse. The Nurse Supervisor works at the top of their licensure to enhance safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of care. They train, supervise, and assign medical assistants and staff nurses while holding direct clinical responsibilities.
The Primary Care Prenatal Nurse provides comprehensive care to childbearing individuals, pregnant and postpartum persons, and their families. They support providers, coordinate perinatal patient needs, and serve as teacher, advocate, and navigator. This role applies principles of advanced access, planned care, and the chronic care model using PDSA for performance improvement.
As Nurse Supervisor, collaborate with Operations Manager, On-Site Medical Director, CNO, and Regional Nurse Manager on policies, projects, and standards. Supervise telephonic triage and ensure staff nurses support complex care management patients. Adhere to scheduling protocols to maximize patient service and provider productivity.
The role may require occasional evening and Saturday hours based on site needs. Contribute to agency goals through delegation of technical functions and compliance with regulatory standards. Improve clinical patient outcomes in a community health center environment.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse licensure to work at top of scope
- Ability to train, supervise, and assign medical assistants and staff nurses
- Knowledge of regulatory standards including JCAHO, OSHA, DPH licensure
- Expertise in prenatal care for pregnant, postpartum, and childbearing individuals
- Skills in care coordination, patient education, and advocacy
- Familiarity with chronic care model, advanced access, planned care, and PDSA improvement
- Experience supporting providers and delegating to medical assistants
- Ability to manage telephonic triage and complex care management panels
Responsibilities
- Complies with all CHC policies and procedures and assures compliance with regulatory standards including JCAHO, OSHA/EOC, Safety/Infection Control, Quality Care Audits, DPH licensure requirements
- Supervises and ensures compliance with agency policy regarding telephonic patient instructions and triage
- Ensures Staff Nurses directly support and proactively enroll a panel of Complex Care Management patients to enhance patient experience and clinical outcomes
- Consults with Regional Nurse Manager/CNO on nursing problems and interpretation of agency policies
- Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for nursing and medical assistant staff members
- Adheres to CHC scheduling system and allocates appointments according to protocols to ensure maximum patient service and provider productivity
- Supervises activities of medical assistants and nurses to ensure compliance
- Coordinates perinatal patient care, supports transitions between levels of care, counsels, educates, and supports patients in improving health status
