Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners join a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide advanced clinical psychiatric nursing care under the supervision of a psychiatrist if required. Part or full-time hybrid positions offer flexible scheduling based out of 102 Pilling St. in Brooklyn. Warm and empathetic professionals deliver psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention for diverse clients.

Roles involve ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and referring clients to specialized resources. Communicate with healthcare professionals, families, and staff to ensure quality health services. May cover other sites if necessary, fostering dedication to team-based care in a mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program
  • Currently licensed in New York State as a psychiatric nurse practitioner
  • Currently certified with the DEA to prescribe medication
  • Registered as a NY State Medicaid provider with DEA# and individual NPI#
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines
  • Excellent assessment, diagnostic and psychopharmacological treatment skills
  • Strong clinical skills working with individuals with mental illness

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management of clients
  • Prescribe or recommend medication or other forms of treatment or related therapeutic procedures
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clients' clinical problems and health care needs
  • Order laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures
  • Refer clients to specialized health resources for treatment
  • Perform crisis intervention
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals, families, and staff members to ensure ongoing quality delivery of health services
  • Cover other sites if necessary
