About this role

Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital provides short-term inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment for children ages 5-11, adolescents ages 12-17, and adults in crisis. Patients receive comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations, medication management, group therapy, and nursing care. Join our skilled, patient-focused multidisciplinary team.

Provide medical services including complete physicals, education, referrals, and follow-up for patients across all levels of care. Conduct assigned aspects of medical care as allowed by state license guidelines. Prescribe medication as permitted by state regulation.

Work with psychiatrists, medical practitioners, master’s level social workers, registered nurses, dietitians, and behavioral health technicians. Communicate with physicians and staff to ensure quality care within guidelines. Encourage family involvement and respond to patient and family educational needs.

Support legal requirements, hospital policies, and regulatory standards in a positive, empathetic environment. Prioritize patient safety and resolve complaints effectively. Part of Acadia Healthcare Network spanning 258 locations in 38 states.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant, from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1 year previous experience in behavioral health facility/clinic preferred
  • No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment
  • Licensed to practice in the state in which the facility operates
  • DEA license

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team
  • Participate in the formulation of patient Master Treatment Plan
  • Assess physical and psychiatric health of patient and formulate measures to meet patient needs
  • Chart clinical observation, evaluations and treatment of patient in required time according to facility guidelines
  • Communicate with physicians and other staff as necessary to provide quality care for patient within appropriate guidelines
  • Encourage family involvement in patient care and respond to identified patient and family educational needs
  • Provide on-call responsibilities on scheduled basis directed by medical staff
  • Prescribe medication as allowed by state regulation
