Backpack Healthcare seeks a part-time PMHNP for flexible, autonomous practice serving children, teens, and young adults via fully remote telehealth. Licensed in Virginia, this role fits supplementing existing work, adding income, or balancing family commitments. Build a consistent caseload without full-time demands.

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, formulate evidence-based diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans with families. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor effectiveness, and provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation. Ensure coordinated care through partnerships with therapists and interdisciplinary teams.

Work in a collaborative care model with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators in an integrated behavioral health setting. Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program
  • Active, unrestricted Virginia PMHNP license & DEA
  • Board Certification (PMHNP-BC)
  • Experience with or passion for working with youth and families
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Comfort practicing in a telehealth environment
  • Ability to practice independently without MD collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations via telehealth
  • Formulate accurate, evidence-based diagnoses
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
  • Monitor effectiveness and adjust treatment as needed
  • Provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation
  • Partner with therapists and care teams to ensure coordinated treatment
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EHR
