About this role

This is strictly a phone triage position, not patient facing, conducted in office. Responsible for triaging patient problems, which includes phone calls to discuss pre and post-op education, review lab work, and diagnostic tests with patients. The role emphasizes phone-based patient interaction and assessment.

Day-to-day involves triaging patient phone calls, covering nurse messages when nurses are in clinic or out of the office, and providing patient education. Utilize critical thinking skills to distinguish between emergent and non-emergent care, manage prescription refills, and accurately document in EMR symptoms, nursing assessment, advice provided, and patient response.

Communicate with Physicians, Nurses, and Staff as needed while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Practice teamwork, service, and respect for coworkers and patients. Complete prior authorizations, FMLA/disability paperwork, and cardiac clearances as required.

Schedule appointments and diagnostic testing as needed, review and treat labs over the phone, and perform any other related duties as required or assigned. This role supports efficient clinic operations through remote phone support and documentation precision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and active, unrestricted Registered Nurse License or LPN License
  • Minimum of one year work experience in a hospital or clinic setting; critical care experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of proper patient care and OSHA/HIPAA regulations
  • Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods
  • Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with patients, employees, and the public
