About this role

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner manages a caseload of neonatal patients with consultation, collaboration, and medical supervision of the Neonatologist. Utilizing theoretical knowledge of neonatology, the role includes assessing, conceptualizing, diagnosing, analyzing, planning, implementing, and evaluating complex problems related to the neonate. This ensures comprehensive care delivery.

The practitioner utilizes a case management approach, coordinating medical and nursing care for continuity of care for both the infant and their family throughout hospitalization. Performs clinical procedures and demonstrates competence in clinical skills, leadership, communication, teaching, and research.

Works within the 36-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, a 72-bed facility on the fifth floor of Cabell Huntington Hospital. The hospital is a member of the Children’s Hospital Association, supporting specialized pediatric and neonatal care.

Customer service is valued through courteous interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and employees. Introduces self by name and job title, demonstrates honesty, discretion, confidentiality, and reports safety concerns timely through appropriate channels.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree
  • Registered Nurse with WV License
  • Advanced Practice recognized by WV State Board of Registered Professional Nurses
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification
  • CPR
  • NRP
  • Minimum of up to 1 year of experience
  • Minimum of 2 years full time level III NICU nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Report safety concerns and hazardous conditions in a timely manner
