The J5-3 unit is a 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit specializing in post-open heart, surgical, and ventricular assist device patients. This fast-paced unit provides excellent opportunities in nursing growth and development.
As a PCNA, coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients caring for those undergoing innovative procedures. A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. providing direct support under RN supervision.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Nursing students required to have BLS through AHA prior to hire
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) considered
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) preferred
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients
- Manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination
- Involves extensive standing and walking; Medium Work exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN
- Obtain vital signs, weight, pulse oximetry, and point of care testing
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living
- Perform patient transfers and transport
- Apply external monitoring devices and perform dressing changes
- Remove urinary Foley catheter
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly
