About this role
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) practices under the general supervision of hospital attending physicians. Serves as an expert clinical nurse utilizing specialized knowledge and skill from advanced education and clinical expertise. Promotes optimum care of patients and families with acute pediatric issues in Critical Care/PICU.
Assesses health status of pediatric clients (0-21 years) through interview, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests. In collaboration with the physician, evaluates test findings, makes initial medical diagnosis, provides patient/family education. Initiates appropriate action for therapeutic plan consistent with ongoing health care needs.
Participates in health care services including patient admission, rounds, progress notes, patient orders, and discharge. Acts as consultant to patient/family, nursing staff, institution, and community in pediatric chronic and acute care. Interrelates with all hospital departments as a voice for nursing expertise.
Collaborates with hospital attending physicians using a Standard of Care Arrangement. Engages in staff development, research, and consultation activities. Works with nursing leaders to develop annual goals aligned with the hospital mission statement.
Requirements
- MSN in Nursing
- Graduation from an accredited program of nursing
- 5 years as Pediatric Nurse
- RN licensure in State of Ohio
- Acute Care Certification
- PNP with acute care certification and PICU experience (preferred)
